Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a registration deadline?

Registration deadline is June 2nd.

Why during the day vs. evening for 10U/SQ & Above? Why 8U/Mites in the evening?

We agree with USA Hockey in supporting multi-sport athletes. This schedule has accounted for as many other summer activities as possible. Many of these other activities happen in the evening, so to avoid conflicts we are scheduling during the day. For the younger 8U/Mites, we believe it is important to have these sessions in the evenings when parents can attend with their players.

Is this open to players from outside of Fergus Falls?

Yes. We expect to have primarily FFHA players but welcome players from surrounding communities to attend.

Are costs pro-rated if I am going to miss part of the camp?

Your registration saves your spot in the camp for all 8-weeks. Since camp costs are calculated to breakeven, we are not offering any pro-rated costs or discounts at this time. Special considerations will only be made in the case of injury/illness that doesn’t allow you to participate in the camp.

Focus of On-Ice Sessions? Who will lead? How many coaches on the ice?

Focus will be on skill development and competition through small-area games. Focus areas for each day will be developed by the FFHA Hockey Director and FFHA Hockey Committee. Sessions will be led by High School Coaches, Youth Coaches and former Otter Hockey players that have played competitively beyond High School. The plan is to have 2-3 coaches on the ice for each level. 8U/Mites may have a few more parent coaches.

Focus of Off-Ice Sessions? Who will lead? Where will off-ice be conducted? What should I wear?

Focus will be on speed, strength, agility, explosiveness and other hockey skills. Off-Ice sessions will be led by FFHA Counselors in conjuction with Max Training. Off-Ice sessions will be conducted in our 4,000 sq. ft. Strength & Performance Center which includes turf, synthetic ice and a weight area (for older levels only). Clean athletic attire and appropriate footwear should be worn during all of these off-ice sessions.

How will players be supervised?

Players will have a Coach or Counselor with their group in the locker room and during all activities starting from 15 minutes before their ice session until 15 minutes after their off-ice session. We ask that players arrive and are picked up within these windows.

Final thoughts for your consideration?

We know that some players are playing on summer hockey teams, but we also ask that you support FFHA in our fourth year of providing summer ice.  There will be players on your winter team where this is their only opportunity to play in the summer. If we want a successful program for years to come, then we need to get as many players on the ice as possible.
